WHY YOU’RE NOT LOSING WEIGHT
Why you’re not losing weight despite doing everything right all day
If you have ever thought…
“I’m doing everything right, so why am I not losing weight?”
You are not alone.
Most of the women I work with are not starting from zero.
They are already making better choices.
They are trying to be consistent.
They are putting in effort.
And yet…
The scale is not moving.
The moment that changed everything
I got an email from a colleague and friend that I immediately shared with my clients.
It asked one simple question:
What are you staying comfortable with right now that you know is not actually working?
So I took it a step further.
I shared it on my social stories as a poll.
Over 2,000 people responded.

Take a second and notice which one you immediately relate to.
The answers were almost identical:
- After-meal snacking
- Nightly cocktails
- Second helpings
- Mindless scrolling in bed
The most common by far?
After-meal snacking.
The real reason you are not losing weight
When I brought this into a client check-in, she didn’t hesitate.
“Evening snacking. The extras. The little things I keep allowing.”
So I asked her:
What is it costing you to stay there?
Her answer:
- Not reaching my goals
- Feeling frustrated
- Doing so much right… and still not seeing progress
This is where most women get stuck.
You are not doing nothing.
You are actually doing a lot right.
But there is one habit you are protecting because it feels harmless.
And it is the exact thing holding you back.
What this actually looks like in real life
This is not usually a big, obvious binge.
It is subtle. Quiet. Easy to justify.
One of my clients had a planned snack at night.
A rice cake with peanut butter.
Totally reasonable.
But then…
A few bites of cereal while standing at the counter.
A small handful of chocolate chips.
Another rice cake because “that first one didn’t hit.”
A handful of her husband’s popcorn while watching TV.
Nothing felt like a big deal.
But when we added it up?
300 to 400 extra calories.
Another client told me:
“I do so good all day… then I just keep grabbing little things after dinner.”
Not a plate.
Not a full snack.
Just bites.
And those bites were the difference between progress and staying stuck.
How small bites at night add up
This is why it feels so frustrating.
Because you are not wildly off track.
You are just slightly off… consistently.
A few bites here.
A handful there.
A “this doesn’t count” moment.
That is often enough to erase your calorie deficit for the day.
What actually works
Most people think they need:
- a better meal plan
- more discipline
- a stricter approach
That is not the issue.
The issue is this:
You are still negotiating with yourself.
You are still justifying it.
You are still giving yourself an out.
Stop negotiating with yourself.
Stop justifying it
Follow through anyway
So instead of changing everything, we focus on one thing:
Follow through when it feels uncomfortable.
The 10-day experiment to break the habit
Not forever.
Just 10 days of clean, honest effort.
Focus:
No unplanned snacking. Especially at night.
Morning questions
- What is my plan for meals today?
- Where will I be tempted later, and what will I do instead?
- What does following through look like for me today?
Evening checklist
- Did I eat on purpose or on impulse?
- Did I follow my plan when it got uncomfortable?
- Did I stick to my evening plan with no extras?
Rule:
Kitchen closed after dinner.
If the urge hits, pause for 10 minutes.
This is where results are created
That moment right there?
That is where results are created.
Not in your plan.
Not in your groceries.
Not in your intentions.
In the decision you make when you want to give in.
If you feel stuck, ask yourself this
What are you still doing that you know is not working?
What is it costing you to stay there?
You do not need to fix everything.
You need to fix the one thing you keep avoiding.
